Erin and Doug

Hello! We are Doug and Erin!

We want to sincerely thank you for getting to know us as you consider adoptive parents for your little one.

Should you choose both adoption and us as adoptive parents, we want you to know that we are committed to raising a child in a loving, nurturing, and stable home.  We will work to ensure that your child has access to diverse life experiences and opportunities.  Our goal as parents is to help them build a happy and fulfilling life.

We would be honored to share more information with you through conversation.  We recognize that you're an irreplaceable part of your child’s story, and are committed to building a relationship with a level of openness that works for everyone.

About Us

Although we grew up in the same small, rural town (4,000 people!) in Wisconsin, our paths didn’t really cross until we were both home one college summer and started dating shortly after attending a friend’s bonfire.  We mastered the art of long-distance dating while completing graduate school in different states (many weekend road trips + mixed CDs!).

After dating 7 years, we eloped in 2015 while vacationing in the Caribbean, then promptly moved across the country with our two rescue pups so Erin could attend another round of graduate school to become a Physician Associate.

Although we love the mountains out West, we ultimately moved back to the Midwest to be close to our family and friends (plus, there’s just something about the Great Lakes that feels like home!).

We love spending as much time outdoors as possible and are always on the hunt for new hikes to chase waterfalls, climb mountains, or forage for berries!  We also enjoy hanging out at our cottage in remote Michigan because we get to be on the lake and chase Northern Lights! When it’s a bit too snowy for outdoor adventures, we spend our time indoors renovating the cottage or in our woodshop building furniture.

Home sweet home!

We live in a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home in a small Wisconsin city that is not only known as “the toilet paper capital of the world” but was also recently named the #1 city to live in the US.  The area has a bunch of family-friendly activities, like farmer’s markets, festivals, botanical gardens, zoos, children’s museums, and orchards.

Our neighborhood is very established, with a  great mix of young families through retirees.  We live near several parks with playgrounds, walking trails, and schools.  Our fenced-in backyard is regularly monitored by our pups (Ollie + Huey), who enjoy supervising Erin’s organic produce and flower gardens.

Our Family

Both sets of our parents still live in the same town we grew up in, about a 30-minute drive from our home, and are very excited to spoil a new grandchild!

Doug has 4 older half-siblings who live in the area.  Erin is also the youngest, with her two older brothers living about 2 and 5 hours away.  We enjoy spending time with our niece and nephews, who are also very excited about a new playmate!

Thank you!

We have thought about what to write you countless times, finding it difficult to write this profile without knowing you.  While we are very excited about the prospect of becoming parents, we realize how difficult this decision and process must be for you.  We do not take for granted how fortunate we are to be considered as adoptive parents.

We appreciate you taking the time to look at our profile and welcome the opportunity to get to know each other better.

With respect, Erin + Doug
