For us, adoption isn’t a "backup plan"—it is a path we have felt truly drawn to with open hearts from the very start. This process has only made us more certain of the love we have to give and our deep desire to be parents.

Our Story

We’ve always loved the "invisible string" theory—the idea that the people meant for us are already connected long before we actually meet.

Our own story followed that path perfectly; we had years of near-misses through mutual friends before finally hitting it off at a college football tailgate. Navigating long distance early on only made us more certain of each other, and since moving to Texas and getting married in 2022, we’ve built a life rooted in true friendship. We’re big fans of the simple joys, whether we’re out hiking a new trail, catching a concert, or hunting for the best local coffee shops and bakeries. On any given weekend, you might also find us traveling to a new place, cheering at a sporting event, or hosting a lively game night with our closest friends. We cherish the quiet moments too, like heading to the movies or just relaxing at home together.

Home and Family

Since buying our home in 2023, we’ve loved making it our own and always envisioned it as the perfect place to start our family.

Our neighborhood is such a gem, filled with parks, trails, and pools that we enjoy during our daily walks together. We’ve been in this city since 2019, building deep roots through our careers and a wonderful group of friends. Many of our favorite spots, like local coffee shops and bakeries, are just a short walk away, making it easy to indulge in the simple joys of our community.

Family is at the heart of our lives, whether we're heading out on vacations, returning to our alma mater for tailgates, or cheering at various sporting events. We also love the quiet times at home, especially when we’re baking together or hosting a lively family game night. Throughout this journey, our family and friends have been incredibly open and supportive, and they are so ready to welcome a new member into the fold.

Fun Facts

Solo:

• McKinna was a state champion powerlifter in high school

• Patrick's family owns a cabin and a lake on 837 acres of land

• Patrick played lacrosse in high school

• McKinna's first year of teaching was as a virtual kindergarten teacher during COVID

As a Couple:

• Our first date was to the movies, and in 2025, we saw 17 movies in theaters

• We have two nephews and three nieces

• We love trivia nights
