Tara and Kurt

Hi! We are Kurt and Tara

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family! Whether you decide to choose adoption or not, we admire your courage as you make this decision. To us, even being considered to be a part of you and your baby’s lives is a great privilege!

Our Story

We met at church as high school students. After just being friends for a couple of years, we started dating in our first semester of college. We got married in 2010, on a little Florida island and life has been full of adventures, laughs, and many wonderful memories since then. Our daughter, Thea, was born in 2018. As a family, we love being outside, playing sports, watching movies, traveling, and spending time together on our little farm.

Home sweet home!

We live on a little farm with an organic garden, our milk cow named Fern, as well as some goats, ducks, chickens, bunnies, geese, and our two dogs. The beautiful trees and little creek on our property make it so nice to be outside and enjoy the land. Tara has wonderful memories of growing up here as a child. After getting married and living a couple other places, we moved back here in 2016. The town we live near is a small historic one with lots of southern charm. We currently homeschool our five year old; and there are many wonderful schools in our district as well. The many playgrounds, trails, state parks, libaries, and historic towns around us make our community a fun and safe place to raise a child. Our daughter loves to visit her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles who live close to us, as well as her many friends who attend our church where Kurt is the pastor. Tara has family in neighboring states as well, and we all love to go visit them up in the mountains a few times a year.

Fun Facts

Interesting Facts:

  • Kurt is a published children’s book author. Its a wonderful book and our daughter asks to read it over and over again.

  • We love to travel. We have been to eight countries and twenty four states so far. Some have been for mission work, others for visiting friends, and some just for hiking.

  • We milk our own cow and goats and we make our own butter.

Traditions We Have:

  • Our family loves to go visit the island where we were married. Tara has been visiting family there since childhood so it holds many special memories. There are so many trails, wildlife, and unique spaces to explore.

  • We usually spend the 4th of July sitting on Kurt’s sister’s front porch with all the kids and family waiting on homemade ice cream to churn. After it gets dark, we walk a block up to the town square to watch the fireworks.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
— Isaiah 26:3-4
