Taylor and Steven
From Our Hearts - Steven & Taylor
We are so grateful for the opportunity to "meet" you and share a bit about our family.
To us, you are not a means to an end - you are an irreplaceable, deeply valued gift, and we will always teach our children to honor your brave heart. Whatever support you need throughout this process, we have your back and are here to walk this journey with compassion. Your child will grow up surrounded by a large, loving village of grandparents, cousins, aunties, and uncles. From the start of our marriage, God placed a calling for adoption on our hearts, and our two boys, Stevie and Shepherd, have eagerly anticipated and prayed for a new sibling. Your incredible strength in choosing adoption fulfills a long-awaited dream for our entire family, and we hope to meet you soon!
About Us
We are a true "opposites attract" story.
Steven was born on a Marine base in Japan and lived in Louisiana before moving to Texas, while Taylor is a born-and-raised Texan. We met in middle school at church, where Steven was the outgoing worship drummer, and Taylor was the shy background singer. After years of teenage awkwardness, we finally reconnected in our early twenties, and Steven proposed at a Christmas party after a year and a half of dating. We married at 23 and 25, and we found out we were expecting our firstborn just three months after our honeymoon. Navigating a new marriage and adulthood while parenting a newborn was a wild ride, and a year and a half later, our second son arrived. Those difficult early years forced us to grow up fast and completely transformed how we relate to each other. We shifted from communicating like debaters trying to win an argument to talking as true teammates. Today, we know that a win for one person at the expense of the other is just a loss for the team. We are profoundly grateful for the unity God has brought to our home, and we can genuinely say we are each other's best friends. God took a boy from Japan and a girl from Texas and, through testing and perseverance, formed a marriage full of love, confidence, and trust.
Home and Family
We absolutely love our home and have built so many sweet memories here since moving in back in 2019.
Our four-bedroom house includes a dedicated music room where Steven and the boys jam out on the drums and piano. We have two sweet rescue dogs, Harry and Sally, who love playing with the kids outside as they jump on the trampoline and spray each other with the hose on hot summer afternoons. Over the past few months, we turned our guest room into a nursery, eagerly preparing a cozy space for the newest little Washington we can't wait to welcome home. Some of our favorite traditions are family movie/game nights with cousins and grandparents, annual vacations to the mountains or the beach, and Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners with all the extended family. We live in a growing Texas town that gives us the best of both worlds - close to city conveniences, but surrounded by country views with horses and cows right down the road. Just five minutes away, we have an amazing new park with basketball courts, a splash pad, a library, and a skate park where the boys love playing with friends. We’ve also been blessed with wonderful neighbors who have young kids, making our community feel like one big extended family. We can't wait to share our home and traditions with a new little one.
