Lauren and Elliot
Hi, we are Lauren and Elliot!
We know that considering adoption is not an easy decision, and it speaks volumes about the love and care you have for your child. Though we have not met yet, we deeply admire your courage and strength as you navigate this decision. As you read our story and look through our photos, we hope you get a genuine sense of who we are, the love we share, the joy in our home, and the life we’re excited to grow through adoption.
We’ve always believed that love is what truly makes a family. After walking through challenges on our journey to become parents, we realized that how a child comes into our lives matters far less than the love we have to give them. Choosing adoption felt like following our hearts, an opportunity to grow our family through compassion, hope, and connection.
To us, family isn’t defined by biology, but by the love that binds us together.
Our Story
We met in 2011 while pursuing our skydiving licenses, and from the very beginning, there was something different about our connection.
We found in each other a sense of home, someone we could laugh with, be completely ourselves around, and share both the everyday moments and the big adventures. Over the past 14 years, our lives have changed in so many ways. No matter where life takes us, that feeling of “home” we first discovered in each other continues to be the foundation of everything we do.
For seven years, we were professional skydivers, traveling the world to compete in national and international competitions. While we loved every moment, we knew it was time to step away from the skydiving world and focus on a new adventure, starting a family together. We adopted our daughter, Astrid, in 2024 and she has filled our lives with more laughter and joy than we ever thought possible. Over time, we’ve built a strong and loving relationship with Astrid’s birth mother and stay in touch through photos, updates, and video calls, sharing in the joy of watching her grow.
These days, Lauren stays home to take care of Astrid full-time and volunteers at an animal rescue one day a week. We are so grateful that Elliot has a flexible work schedule and works from home, which allows him to be fully present for the magical little moments that make up our days as a family.
Home and Family
We live in a diverse community in Wisconsin, located just a few miles from Lake Michigan.
Our home is surrounded by trees and the beauty of nature and is situated in a family-friendly neighborhood with a huge park next door. We love to spend time in our backyard whether gardening, playing, enjoying family meals on the patio, or simply soaking in the changing seasons.
As much as we love our house, it wouldn’t be a home without our three fluffy snuggle monsters, our cats: Forrest, Wicket, and Khris!
Our extended family lives all over, so we travel often to make sure we get quality time with everyone. Our family trips have taken us all over; in fact our daughter, Astrid, has visited 11 states in her first year! For us, family isn’t about distance, but about showing up, celebrating together, and creating a sense of belonging that lasts a lifetime.
Things that make us happy
Enjoying home cooked meals as a family; Sunday brunch holds a special place in our hearts!
Traveling to new places and learning about other cultures
Soaking in the beauty of nature and spending time on the water
Reading; our entire family LOVES books!
Ice Cream!!! Wherever we go, we’re on a mission to find the best ice cream in town.
In Closing
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to get to know our family.
If you choose us to parent your child, we want them to know you and your story as much as you are comfortable sharing. We welcome a relationship in whatever way feels right for you, and we would be honored to love, celebrate, and support your child every day while keeping you an important part of their life.
